Cancer refers to healthy cells that have grown or multiply out of control. These cells do not behave orderly as they should and start to turn into nuisance. In a colon, cells that multiply and divide without control will form precancerous cells called polyps.

If the cells continue to grow too fast in one area of the colon, there is a big chance for them to turn into colon cancer. Colon cancer, as it turns out, is the third most common form of cancer in the world, and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the USA.
One of the causes of colon cancer is unhealthy living habits, especially eating habits. Eating too much of red meat, with high fat diet and very low fiber intake are some of unhealthy eating habits that may result in getting colon cancer. Excessive smoking and alcohol drinking are another part of the unhealthy habits.
Other causes of colon cancer can be the spread of cancer from other areas in the body, and also genetics. Although you cannot do much about the latter, but you can prevent colon cancer from developing by changing your eating habits and diet, exercise regularly, and also follow a colon cleansing program.
Colon cleansing is not a cure, but it is a definitely a very good preventive measure. You can do colon cleansing annually, or half yearly, or even quarterly. The decision is yours, but do not over do it. After flushing out all those toxic matters from your body, either by preparing natural colon cleansing recipes, or using colon cleanser products, it is important to always drink plenty of liquid or plain water to help in bowel movement.
Reduce, if not avoid, taking caffeine. Caffeine is not only present in coffee, but also in colas. Try substituting them with colon cleansing tea instead.
Apart from doing the above, schedule an appointment with your physician at least once in every six months, especially if you are above 50 years old. Do a colorectal cancer screening to make sure that your colon is healthy. It is good if you start your monitoring now, so that you can reduce the possibility of getting colon cancer, and avoid going through those awful and painful treatments and medications.
